Not a good day for Celebration, we lost 14-4 (I think....) . I didn't go to Sam's game I watched Johns game on the other field. The games were a few hours delayed due to the condition of the fields from the rains we have had over the last couple of days, eventually we moved fields to get the game started. I kept in touch with the score keeper Misty and she kept me updated. Still I think it was a great game and all the kids were smiling after a defeat which is always good. I cant believe Sam was smiling after getting beat, but he said he felt good at bat and thats the main thing....... I was shocked I thought he was gonna have a face like a wet weekend......
9-10yr olds played tonight, they won 18-2. They played awesome. Sam did a fantastic bunt that got a run home. He hit a ball to the right field, and then next at bat he hit the ball right at the 3rd base man and was caught out. All the kids played fantastic everyone hit and everyone did what they were suppose to do. A great start to the tournament. Lets keep going...... Dad Sam is on the bottom row far left....
The Birchall's getting ready for the first All Star game, everyone was excited and ready to play ball. Sam is no 9 Torres, and No 8 Stevie G for John. I am so happy for the kids that they made All Stars its great to watch them in their new uniforms days before ready to play. It seems like we didnt get much practice time with the horrible weather, just hope the other teams had the same problem too....
Dont wake me........ Maggie is so funny, she is lazy as ever. Here she is fast asleep on a sun lounger looking really comfortable. Maggie spent ages arranging that pillow so she had it right where she wanted it..... She slept like a baby for hours....
The kids have been out of school nearly 2 weeks its flown by. All Star practices have started, 4 nights a week for John and 3 nights a week for Sam, practice is pretty intense and the kids seem to be doing really well. The weather was really bad tonight so practice was cancelled, tons of thunder and lightening and really heavy rains. I hope this isn't going to be the start of afternoon storms when we have to miss practice. We went to Spring Park pool today for a couple of hours, always nice and relaxing, kids play in the pool and I can chill with a good book..........
The afternoon storms have arrived in Orlando, its really cool because the house goes dark, the winds blow, the thunder is loud, somehow, it makes you feel all cozy, as if you were back in the English weather. The temperature also drops slightly so makes these temperatures a little easier to bare. The kids hate it because more often than not it means baseball will be cancelled. The storm arrived at 2.30pm and Sam was already miffed saying "well thats my baseball cancelled". Uniform fittings tonight for All Stars I cant wait to see the kids in the uniforms, Sam has wore his brag shirt since he got it, and I am having to quickly wash it and dry it for tonights practice. I am not looking forward to the laundry All Stars is going to create.........!!!!!
The kids have started to like Basketball, and John is trying to improve on his dunking skills, I threw my first basketball at Vickies house and got a swoosh, or a swish, or whatever its call, this is when the ball goes into the basket without touching the sides. I never let them know I was on the school netball team many many years ago......!!!!! The first week of the summer holidays has gone already, we seem to have been busy but not done very much, John went to Quicks, Speed & Agility training 3 mornings this week, he was exhausted when he came home, the rest of the week we just chilled out watching College Baseball and Euro 2008, and swam at Vickies, it was sooooooo nice to have nothing to do. Today was a nice day we went to see the Hulk. Very good movie lots of action, a bit like Iron Man although I still like Transformers the best. Tomorrow we have Celebration Little League AGM at 6pm, when they announce the Celebration All Stars, and discuss the Little League affairs.
We had a great time with Jane, Tony, Joe and Caleb, and was sad to see them go, I like having people around the house from home, there is always lots of laughs. The photograph in the pool is at Artisan Park it was for AAU and Phillies team party. We had a great time playing in the pool with the team and there was lots of good food. We went to Smokey Bones on Saturday night, I looked after the kids again while they all shopped till they dropped. Jane sent me a few photographs today as I always forgot to take out my camera, so i will post a few here for you all.
Took the Mulhearns to our favourite Chinese restaurant last night, in Dr Phillips. We tucked into a ton of food, steamed red snapper, salt & pepper chicken, salt & pepper fish, Shanghai style ribs, beef with black bean sauce with plenty of rice. We are regulars at the restaurant and are friends with the owners, we always take all our friends and family there that come to visit us. After dinner we went to Barnes and Noble, we all bought a couple of books and then I stayed home with the kids and the adults went to Wal-Mart, the English peoples favourite shop.
The Phillies played in the Top Team today, we were playing Pinecastle. Pinecastle are the unbeaten team of the season, the last time we played them we lost 23-1. Today we were nervous the score was gonna be a washout. The Phillies played some fantastic baseball and we were tied with them at 11-11 in the 6th. When they were up to bat in the 7th inning they scored 2 runs. We needed 3 runs when we were next at bat. Unfortunatly we only got 1 run that inning and lost the game. We were so proud of the boys the opposing fans were mean to them but they just played ball..... We held them to that score and 3 of the boys were sick.....!!! We'll get em next time....
